Belts

TIMING/SYNCHRONOUS BELTS

Timing belts are used to interchange rotary motion and linear motion in power transmissions.  The timing belt is a flat belt with integral teeth which allows timing pulleys to transmit force to the belt and prevent belt slippage which maintains high efficiency.  They are constructed of various materials including polyurethane, rubber, neoprene and urethane.  Special tip when purchasing timing belts would be the operating tension, power transmission, operating speed and temperature

V-BELTS

V-Belts have a specially constructed shape that tracks in the mating groove of the pulley or sheave in power transmissions.  As the load increases the belt wedges in the groove which helps improve torque transmission.  They are commonly produced using rubber, polyurethane, neoprene and urethane.  Special tip when purchasing these belts would be tension rating and maximum operating speed.

CONVEYOR BELTS

Conveyer belts consist of a continuous loop of material that is rotated by two or more pulleys.  The belts are constructed by one or more layers of material depending on the application. The under layer of material provides the linear strength and shape and an over layer(cover) that is usually constructed of rubber or plastic compounds.  Conveyor belts are used in material handling applications such as factory or bulk handling material or to transport industrial and agricultural material such as grain, ore and coal.  Special tip when purchasing these belts would be to know the dimensions including belt thickness, length and width along operating speed, operating temperature and minimum pulley size.
